I know this posing was ages ago, but I'm a welder/artist and have a studio in Mountain View called Hellbent Studios. I teach Welding with MIG, TIG and Plasma cutting...etc. I do not know what price ranges you have found, but you can check out the site. I try and make a custom class that is personal and have you welding right away! Group workshops are really fun and the project workshop is great for small projects and larger groups. Laney's program is a bit confusing on the website- they list classes in specific techniques but the reality is that they teach all processes in one class that you can take multiple times . There are a fair number of women in it this semester, and that seems to be normal. It's really cheap, there's no additional material fee I dont think. I have been a certified welder, and think that if we can get 5 women to take a workshop, there would be a lot of room to learn, and work. She has got gas, and arc welder- she also has tig- but I would not teach that until people know how to oxy acetyline, arc weld with stick and mig. So that would be an advanced workshop. send me a message if you want to be notified of a workshop or want to motivate me to do this...right now I am not pushing forward with it. Tell me how much you would pay for a one day workshop, and or 4 series class. This is in Mountain View. There may be a possibility of teaching it at the Shipyard in Berkeley as well. I'd have to check out what the restrictions are there, if any! We are thinking wither one day intensives and or a 4 class series. One disclaimer- there is a certain amount of liability involved- so a waiver would have to be signed- each person needs to release liability or there is no way the shop owner can host the workshop- the insurance is way way too pricey. That is what you are paying for when you pay for a crucible class, I know for a fact the teacher gets peanuts for teaching.
