Have any of you run into the problem of tub caulk refusing to dry? I recaulked my tub this week, and the caulk on the plumbed side of the tub is refusing to dry. I am suspecting there is a leak somewhere... gotta love those what I call domino projects... you know... the simple project that dominos into a huge one.
Thanks in advance for your help! :)

Re: tub caulk question.
Fri, October 15, 2004 - 7:21 AMI had a similar problem with a house I rented last year - and in fact it was a huge leak.....my slumlord refused to hire a plumber. If you own your home, you may need to get behind the tiles.
Here's a quick, easy temporary fix. I would use a damp sponge to wipe off the damp caulk. Use a blow dryer to speed up the drying process both before and after reapplying. Don't use the shower for a few days - steam may make the problem reappear. The standard cheap white caulk may not be what you need.....I think I used a caulking product made by Elmer's.
Good Luck! -

Re: tub caulk question.
Fri, October 15, 2004 - 9:25 AMthanks for the blowdryer idea... i will have to see if a neighbor has one I can use.. I don't have one :P.. but yes.. I will let it dry out good & try again... I sure hope it's not behind the wall.. I have plastic fake tile sheeting (looks better than it sounds... the appraiser thought it was real tile, anyway) -
