Okay, I have been watching too many episodes of "Clean Sweep" and "Trading Spaces" and now I'm convinced that my bathroom will look MUCH better painted!
Any suggestions on how to get behind the toilet easily? (We're in a 1917 Edwardian with OLD toilet bowls bolted to the wall)

Re: Painting behind a toilet?
Sun, January 30, 2005 - 10:19 PMdo you own, or rent? and cool/yuck the kind of toilets you have!
I've never worked with that kind of toilet. If it were me, I'd be really tempted to paint close to it with a regular paintbrush, then get in with an artist's paint brush to paint in behind without actually moving the tank. yeah yeah, I know lazy.. but might be better than creating plumbing woes.
Maybe someone else here has Edwardian crapper experience? -

Re: Painting behind a toilet?
Mon, January 31, 2005 - 7:42 AMThen I definately wouldn't mess with trying to get the tanks off the walls! Ordinary toilets can be cranky, so I can't even imagine what your goldie oldie would do!
Yeah, I stick by my original suggestion. Paint close with the regular roller or brush, then slide in behind with the artists' brush, wiping off any you might get on the tank as you go. If you take your time, you shouldn't have any bothersome "shadow" of the former color. -

Re: Painting behind a toilet?
Wed, February 2, 2005 - 10:12 AMyuppers.. i would tell the paint dude or dudesse what you are using the paint for.. semi-gloss or gloss resists moisture better, if I recall correctly.
